Subject: “Rod” news - Creative Correction!
Dear Friends,
Last year someone on our activist list urged me to look into the book
“Creative Correction” by Lisa Whelchel. I finally did, and it’s
horrific. She believes in frequent spankings, slapping, and hot-saucing,
especially before age 5. She also “gets creative” by suggesting such
punishments as tying children to each other or putting them in
handcuffs, and making them walk on dog poop. She doesn’t believe in
discussion, only immediate compliance to her commands, which are
sometimes very absurd or cruel. Such as not allowing bathroom visits.
Please write a one-star review!! You can read excerpts from the book,
and write a review from this webpage:

Remember, your review doesn’t have to be long or perfect, just some of
your thoughts. Thank you for speaking out against this brutal book!!

Developmental psychologist Kurt Fischer, director of Harvard
University’s Mind, Brain and Education program, and colleagues published
a study that tracked 440 children and adolescents over seven years to
determine what causes children to become aggressive and violent. They
found that violence in the home, including physical punishment such as
spanking, was the strongest predictor of aggression in children.

Thank you for sharing this info. I’ve also written to home schooling catalogs, asking them to not carry her book.

Oh my gosh! I had no idea Lisa Whelchel advocated this kind of thing. Thank you for providing the link, as I obviously would not want to buy the book before reviewing it. I will check it out. What in the world is “hot saucing?”
